The Bungle Bungle range of the East Kimberley is one of the world's great wonders. The Bungle Bungle range is an intricate maze of spectacular sandstone beehive domes, narrow gorges lined with magnificent fan palms, and soaring cliffs with many seasonal waterfalls and rock pools. Major attractions are Echidna Chasm and Mini Palm Gorges in the Northwest and Piccaninny and Cathedral Gorge in the Southwest.
One of Australia's most recognised natural icons, remote and absolutely breath taking, the Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle) has recently been inscribed on the World Heritage List. The management of Purnululu National Park is a joint partnership between the traditional owners and the State Government's conservation agency, Department of Environment and Conservation (D.E.C). The local Aboriginal clan groups are river people and as such, most of their activities revolve around the Ord River and nearby waterholes.
This area is extremely important spiritually to the local people and includes sites that feature rock art, hand stencils and ochre grindings. Some areas have restricted or no access because of their importance. East Kimberley Tours have a special restricted license to operate our facilities within the Purnululu National Park World Heritage Area (Bungle Bungle). Part of your fare contributes to the management and upkeep of the Park.
