Families should ask about cots, noise, and whether the dinner table is a quiet house or a performance.
Bathrooms, as the old URLs demanded
Shared bathroom facilities were a product line in 2004. They still exist in some hosted stays and backpacker-adjacent rooms. Private bathrooms exist in motels and some B&Bs. Neither is morally superior. Heat makes a shared bathroom a scheduling sport. If that stresses you, book private and pay whatever the current host asks — not what a PDF said.
Dinner as heat management
A hosted meal can be the difference between eating well and eating a service-station pie at 8 p.m. It can also be a social load if you are introverted and exhausted. There is no prize for being a charming guest after Cathedral Gorge. Communicate. Hosts are not mind-readers and not hotel chains.
