Packing that earns its weight
Covered walking shoes. A brim. Long sleeves you can hike in. Electrolytes. More water than pride. A layer for air-conditioned coaches and dam-wall wind at dusk. A head torch if you camp. A paper map if you self-drive. Insect sense near water. Earplugs for generators and road trains. Soft bags if a small aircraft is possible.
Leave the seventh dress shirt. Leave the drone-as-personality. Leave the assumption that Cathedral Gorge is a sandal place.
Permits and passes without a price
Purnululu day-entry and camping: DBCA Explore Parks. Mirima: the same family of parks, different page. El Questro: the station park’s own access. Lake boats: the operator, not a park pass. Federal parks on another week: Parks Australia. We will not freeze a dollar figure here.
Hire contracts as permits
Your 2WD paperwork is a permit to stay on sealed roads. It is often a prohibition on the Spring Creek Track. Read it. That is a dry-season document too.
